We all know at least one of those people. The ones who say exactly what they’re thinking. They don’t hide their emotions, and seem to share every opinion. They are unapologetically who they are every moment of every day. As you think about a person like this in your life, you may find yourself of two minds about them. First, you think of the damage they sometimes do – the feelings they hurt (intentionally or not), the opportunities they may squash through lack of tact, the relationships they may lose over words and actions that are “direct” in nature.

Your second mind, though, probably leans a little differently. There’s something undeniably appealing about a person who holds nothing back. “No-Fail” Friday: Hear me out

I don’t know about you, but it’s been a long week over here. I’m more than ready to greet this beautiful Friday and the weekend ahead. On the other hand, it’s been a week full of gratitude for the things that make life a happy place, and clarity around the importance of prioritizing them. We’re all better off when surrounded by the people, things and activities that make us feel loved and valued. Of course, if you read this week’s earlier post, you know it isn’t always possible to be in that state, and in fact, it’s important to push ourselves into the “discomfort zone” of disagreement now and then. Like all of our mindfulness challenges, it’s a “no-fail” proposition because your effort and intention is the key. Most of the time, when people talk about why mindfulness can be challenging, it’s about quieting the chatter in their minds. We know our minds are busy, and sometimes that noise gets a little overwhelming. So, we focus on the potential for mindfulness to slow that rush, or more precisely, to give us space to observe it without getting too caught up in it.
