I hope there’s been some celebrating underway for you this past week, regardless of your creed or culture. Even if you’re a member of the Holy Church of Nothing at All, you can at least find your way into a room full of someone else’s punch and cookies. Nothing wrong with that, as there seem to be a few extra laying around these days.

However, many of us have tendency to follow good news with the quiet hesitation of waiting for the other (metaphorical) shoe to drop. It seems like a lot of the people I talk to lately are in one of two places: livin’ the dream or wishing they were dreaming. Lots of activity on the two far ends of the emotional spectrum. Maybe this is just my crowd, and things are pretty steady with you right now. In case, however, you happen to be one of those folks who could use a little reminder that happiness has not abandoned you, this quote’s for you. Even if life is exceeding your expectations right now, tuck this one away. As mindfulness teaches us, everything is temporary. Joy is never far, though, sometimes served up in big, delicious spoonfuls, and sometimes in moments so tiny you’d miss them if you blinked. All the more reason to be paying attention, and of course, to keep knocking.
